How To Gain Insight on Criminal Charges & Former Arrests Made in Fulton County Georgia
Fulton County has a centralized system that allows any interested person to request copies of public records. To obtain copies of police reports in Fulton County, citizens must access the Open Records Request system and follow the steps.7
To submit a request online, people must choose “Submit a Records Request” and create an account.8
If they don’t feel comfortable working online or sharing their personal information, they can contact the Records Request Center using the information below:
Fulton County Open Records Request Center
Office of the County Attorney
141 Pryor St SW – Suite 4039

One thing to consider is that this system allows people to request records from any agency in Fulton County. Therefore, when requesting records about a police incident or a criminal case, it’s important to make that clear in the system by choosing to obtain records from the Sheriff’s Office.
When searching for information about a crime that was committed outside of Fulton County, citizens can rely on the Georgia Department of Corrections.
The Find an Offender Search Tool allows people to retrieve information about inmates anywhere in the state, regardless of which correctional facility they’re being kept at.9
Ideally, searches using the “Find an Offender” tool would be done with first and last names. However, the system will match partial information when that’s all that can be provided. Therefore, if only the last name is known, or the searcher can only add a first initial, it’s still possible to start an inquiry.
Results will show the offender’s full name, their charges and where they’re incarcerated (or were incarcerated at some point in the past). To know more, users can click on “ View Offender Info” to be redirected to another page.
The detail page will show the offender’s mugshot, information about past convictions, and release date (past or future). The Find an Inmate tool is useful because it shows current inmates as well as past offenders who aren’t currently in jail – therefore offering valuable insight into their past criminal history.
Searchers who need more assistance can contact the Georgia Department of Corrections by completing an online form or visiting their office in person using the following information:10

If, after finding the inmate in the system, it becomes necessary to help them get released from jail, readers will likely have to post bail on their behalf. Let’s address below how to accomplish that.
How To Handle Fulton County Bail & Utilize a Bail Bondsman
Before being able to post bail, searchers must first find information about the charges filed against the inmate and the amount set by the judge. This can be done by using the Inmate Search or by calling one of those two numbers: 404.613.2002 or 404.662.3516.
Individuals who choose to self-bail can do it 24 hours a day, 7 a week, at the Fulton County Jail.
The amount set by the judge must be paid in full, and it has to be done in person at the main jail front office. People can use cash, cashier’s checks, or postal money orders.
As an alternative, people can also post bail online. The online option accepts payment by credit or debit card.
This is the address for the Fulton County Jail:
Fulton County Jail
901 Rice St SW
Atlanta, Georgia 30318
Phone: 404.613.2024
When people self-bail, it may be possible to receive a refund after the judge issues a final disposition about their case. For that to happen, the offender would need to comply with each one of the requirements set by the court.
When it’s time to obtain a refund, the individual who made the payment must go in person to the Fulton County Courthouse with a copy of the receipt.12
Only that individual will be able to collect the refund, and having a copy of the receipt is mandatory. This is the court’s address where bail refunds are processed:
Fulton County Courthouse
185 Central Ave – 9th floor
Atlanta, GA 30318
For those who don’t want to self-bail or can’t afford the full amount of the bail set by the judge, it’s also possible to work with a bondsman agency. Those agencies are registered with the State and usually require a payment of 10 to 15% of the bail amount. After arrangements are made, they work with the correctional facility to get the inmate released as soon as possible.
Any amount paid to the bondsman agency won’t ever be refunded or recovered.
The ability to access public records information and, in particular, arrest records is invaluable. Being able to retrieve relevant facts about any case allows citizens everywhere to feel safer and better informed. There’s a lot of value in transparency, and people shouldn’t take that for granted as it’s a privilege some societies don’t yet have.
Anyone concerned about an inmate can now confidently obtain Fulton County arrest records and use the information they access as they see fit; as long as they’re respectful of others’ privacy, they should never hesitate to search for information about individuals in the community.
