Start a free Fulton County mugshot search today and find out who is currently arrested or incarcerated anywhere from the local jail to the state and federal prison.
The Georgia Open Records Act and the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) state that all public records should be made available to citizens, except for those records or information deemed confidential by the law or court order.
This article explains the process of finding mugshot and arrest records through various online and offline resources in Fulton County and helps searchers learn how to responsibly use the information they obtained.
Sources Available To View Mugshots for Free
A mugshot is a police photograph of someone arrested by law enforcement officials that is added to an individual’s arrest record.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office releases arrest records submitted by various law enforcement agencies within the county, including all police departments. To view mugshots, searchers may either review the jail records database maintained by the sheriff’s office, submit an online request, call the records unit, or request the information in person.
Searchers who know the specific city or municipality of the individuals they are looking for may fill out a form online, contact, or visit that city’s police department to request the record.
If the arrested individuals are judged and sent to state or federal prison, their mugshots will also be available in their criminal records. The Georgia Department of Corrections releases these criminal records online for offenders in state prisons and the Bureau of Prisons does the same for inmates in federal prisons.
Note that in Georgia, mugshots can be restricted if eligible or requested by the arrested individual. So, arrest booking photographs may not be available in the online database for viewing.
Guide To Accessing Fulton County Mugshots at No Cost (GA)
Mugshots, or arrest police photographs, are taken after an individual is arrested. To view mugshots in Fulton County, interested individuals may access the jail roster provided by the sheriff’s office.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office maintains an inmate locator where anyone may review the jail records of arrested individuals.1 To start the search, individuals must provide the defendant’s first and last name. If known, they may also provide the date of birth (D.O.B.) and the booking and release date to shorten the possible result list.
The search results will show the list of arrested individuals with the following information: booking number, defendant name, booking and released date, arresting agency, and charges.
Once searchers click on the link on the booking number of the individuals they’re looking for, it will show additional information such as the alias, SO number, address, physical description, and more details about the charges.
However, there’s a high possibility that the mugshot of the arrested individuals may not be available in this inmate locator; Georgia Law (O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393.5) states that there are eight situations where commercial websites must discard an arrestee’s mugshot from the website for free, and must be done within 30 days from the date this individual sent a written request. That’s why many arrest records available don’t have mugshots on them.
Rest assured that mugshots can still be viewed by interested parties, even if not available online. Interested individuals may request a mugshot or booking photo from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The form request must be submitted to the Fulton County Open Records Request Center together with the booking photo release affirmation form.2

Each record includes the date and time of the booking, the facility where the individual was booked, the law enforcement agency that sent the person, and the release date if the person was released. Note, however, that this dataset does not have the person’s name or mugshot.

The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) manages all 34 state prisons and other correctional facilities in the state, ensuring that all offenders are taken care of and providing various services for their rehabilitation and offering helpful information for offenders’ families and friends.
This department is also the custodian of the offender records within the state and has an offender locator available to the public.7 To start the search, the searchers must click “I agree–Go to the Offender Query.” Then, on the offender search page, run a search either by providing the name or description, or the ID or case number.
The results will show the offender’s mugshot (if available), along with their physical description, incarceration details, known aliases, case number, and other information.
For other inquiries or online requests, the searchers may contact the GDC at:

The result may or may not have mugshots available based on the law of the state they are in.
For additional instructions, the searchers may also check the process to find criminal records in Georgia.
